Veers AU at "Counteragent". This was written (two months late) for the Sarkney Ficathon. [livejournal.com profile] fatema requested Seasons 1 or 2, Sark being playful and teasing Sydney about something, lingering looks, and witty sexy banter. I don’t think I succeeded at that. It’s darker than she probably wanted, and stranger. Some familiarity with Robert Browning’s “Porphyria’s Lover” is strongly suggested, but not required. For those who care about such things, the story is written in 16 100-word drabbles. [livejournal.com profile] gabby_silang is the best beta ever. She held my hand while I hated the first Sarkney I wrote, and pushed me until the ideas swirled and mixed enough to produce something worthwhile.

Summary: These are the quiet moments.
Warnings for pretension and Classical Mythology, I guess.

I was in the shower last night, around midnight, and a number of things came together in my head: a Clex drabble I wrote at Wiscon and never did anything with, an icon Molly had the other day that referenced Theseus and Pirithous and made me think about them again, the thunderstorm outside, the fact that Invention of Love has been on the top of my reference book pile for weeks, the pattern of question-and-answer in the Cupid and Psyche part of Mary Zimmerman's Metamorphoses, Catullus. I got out of the shower and jotted down a few paragraphs before I went to sleep, woke up this morning with more words, and wrote the rest on the plane. It's more than a drabble, less than a story, and entirely unbetaed. This is for Molly, even though she didn't ask for it.

Patience; PG; vague spoilers for "Serenity"
A while ago, Patience shot Mal. Here's how it might have happened.

Notes: Chocolate and oranges to my wonderful beta, [livejournal.com profile] gabby_silang, without whom this would take place on a planet made of pudding. And the Hitchhiker's Guide reference is entirely Aurora's fault. For [livejournal.com profile] swmbo.
